Free Online Grants

Grants are monies that are awarded to different organizations, businesses and people for any number of reasons. They differ from loans in the fact that you don't have to pay this money back. If you are a college student then you have no doubt heard or received the Perkin Grant. There are grants that are available online for free.

Sounds redundant I know, free online grants, grants are free money… anyway, the point is, if you need money to pay bills, go back to school, start a business, go on vacation, pay medical bills, etc, there are grants available to you. You are worried that you won't qualify. Getting a grant is easier then getting a loan from a bank, and you don't have to pay it back.

Easier than a loan from a bank? Yes, as in there aren't the rigid guidelines as far as credit and having a "legitimate" reason for the loan. Grants do not usually look at your credit, they aren't interested in your income what they are interested in is why you want the grant. There is a grant for everything, seriously. Grants are specific, so if you are a 34 year old white man looking to build a house, you are not going to apply for a grant designated to women who are black and in the their 30s wanting to start a new career. Don't waste your time, or the people giving the grant.

There are so many grants out there that just don't get used because people don't know about them. Do your research, if you are wanting to go back to school for a new career, getting farther in your current career look for grants that meet who you are. Don't stop with educational grants. If you are a minority look for those grants, if you are female, if you are male, if you are the child of a veteran, there are grants to help everyone.

To get a grant, you will have to write a proposal. Follow the guidelines for submission; give them what they are asking for exactly, if you want the grant. Go to the library, search online for help writing that proposal, it is your key to the money that you need. It isn't a high school term paper that you can blow off. There are services out there that will in fact help you write your proposal for a fee. If it costs you $50 to get the proposal done right so that you can get the money to do research, go to school, start a business, then it is worth the investment.

Here is a word of caution. As you search the net trying to find those free grants, you are going to come across sites that offer you all the best grants, guaranteed for a fee. You don't have to pay for these services, and they can not guarantee a grant unless the grant is coming directly from them. There are hundreds of free sites out there, including government sites with all the grant information you will need. Plus, visit your local library for a few hours on any free day that you have, there are books upon books filled with grants. There is so much free money out there for people to get to help them, they just don't know how or where to look.

First, know what you need the grant for. Then write down everything about you that you may help you qualify for a grant, do an internet search, or go to the library to find those grants. Find out what each grant you are applying for requires and get to work. It can take a few months before you get that grant so get started. Remember your proposal is your golden ticket.
